Youth unemployment has reached alarming levels, with the rate for individuals aged 16 to 24 peaking at 21.3% in June 2023. This figure has remained high, reflecting structural challenges in the labor market and a mismatch between educational outcomes and job market demands. Consequently, many parents are maintaining rigorous academic schedules for their children, believing that academic success is the key to future employment opportunities.
The government’s attempts to reverse declining birth rates have also been met with limited success. Policies encouraging larger families have not significantly alleviated the financial and social pressures associated with child-rearing, leading to a reluctance among young couples to have more children.
In response to these interconnected issues, there is a growing recognition of the need for comprehensive reforms that address not only educational practices but also economic and social structures.
