Emotional Frank Lampard celebrates Coventry’s Premier League return in front of packed crowd including wife Christine

FRANK LAMPARD and his Coventry troops are celebrating their return to the Premier League in front of their own fans at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Sky Blues defeated Wrexham 3-1 in their final home league game to ensure the Welsh side will partake in a three-way battle for the final play-off spot alongside Hull City and Derby County next weekend.

Wrexham’s Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, jokingly tried to tease Coventry into a midweek trip to Las Vegas in a bid to boost their chances.

Sadly for them, the champions remained on their game and put on a show in their final home game of the campaign.

They will close their campaign away at Watford next weekend.

Lampard, 47, has proven his worth at Coventry after a stop-start management career and clearly savoured the victorious scenes on Sunday afternoon.

His wife Christine and two of his four children joined him on the pitch for the celebrations before he gave a speech to the jubilant fans.

In his speech after the trophy lift, Lampard dedicated the triumph to his wife.

“The biggest thank you – a football club is only as big as the people who support it.

“You’ve supported it. You’ve been down a lot. You’ve been to different stadiums with this team, other teams – all the teams. Because when you’re born this way you’re never going to change right?
