Birmingham’s HAF Programme Expands to Reach More Families Than Ever

Birmingham City Council has announced the expansion of its Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, aiming to support more families than ever before. The initiative, known locally as ‘Bring it on Brum!’, provides eligible children and young people with access to free holiday clubs that offer healthy meals and engaging activities during school holidays.

Since its inception, the HAF programme has been instrumental in addressing the ‘holiday experience gap’ for children from low-income households. These children are often less likely to access organised out-of-school activities, experience unhealthy holidays in terms of nutrition and physical health, and face social isolation. The programme aims to mitigate these challenges by providing enriching experiences that promote well-being and development.

The expansion of the HAF programme reflects Birmingham City Council’s commitment to supporting families and ensuring that children have access to opportunities that foster resilience, character, and overall well-being. By increasing the reach of the programme, the council aims to create a positive impact on the lives of more children and young people across the city.
