President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will undertake a landmark State Visit to the United Kingdom next month, marking the first such visit by a Nigerian leader in 37 years. The President, accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has accepted an invitation from Charles III to visit from 18–19 March 2026.

The King and Camilla will host the visit at Windsor Castle, underscoring the diplomatic significance of the occasion and the evolving relationship between both nations.
“This visit reflects the enduring ties between our countries and our shared commitment to partnership, prosperity and mutual respect,” a palace source said.
King Charles has longstanding links with Nigeria, having visited four times as Prince of Wales — in 1990, 1999, 2006 and 2018 — with the Queen accompanying him on the most recent trip. In September 2024, he welcomed President Tinubu to Buckingham Palace, setting the stage for deeper engagement.
The upcoming visit is steeped in history: previous Nigerian State Visits occurred in 1973, 1981 and 1989. Diplomats say the 2026 programme is expected to strengthen economic, cultural and strategic cooperation between the two countries at a pivotal global moment.
